Nigeria’s D’Tigers will look to strengthen their bid for a second continental crown when they take on defending champions Tunisia in their second group game at the 2025 FIBA Men’s AfroBasket in Angola on Friday.

The 2015 champions opened their campaign with a commanding 77-59 win over Madagascar, led by Caleb Agada’s game-high 22 points and a double-figure contribution from veteran Stan Okoye.

Tunisia head into the clash reeling from a shock 86-65 defeat to Cameroon, a result that ended their decade-long unbeaten run in the competition.

Their last loss before Wednesday came in the 2015 third-place game the same edition Nigeria lifted their only AfroBasket title.

The holders will be without retired captain Makram Romdhane and fellow veteran Radhouane Slimane, but Jawhar Jawadi, who scored 16 points against Cameroon, alongside Mohamed Ochi and Omar Abada, remains a threat.

With top spot in the group at stake, victory for either side would be a major step towards an automatic quarter-final place.
