Nigeria’s D’Tigress will discover their quarter-final opponents today as Angola and Cameroon clash in a playoff at the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament in Abidjan.
The defending champions advanced from Group D with back-to-back wins, thrashing Rwanda 92–45 before edging Mozambique 60–55 in a tense contest.
That victory extended their stunning unbeaten run at the tournament to 26 games, a streak dating back to their last defeat in 2015.
Cameroon, who last beat Nigeria in that 2015 semi-final, finished second in Group B after a win over South Sudan and a heavy loss to Mali.
Angola, meanwhile, remain winless after defeats to Egypt and hosts Ivory Coast. Whoever emerges victorious from today’s match will face Rena Wakama’s D’Tigress on Thursday for a place in the semi-finals and a ticket to the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournament.
