Nigeria’s D’Tigress have reached a new milestone after climbing to eighth place in the latest FIBA Women’s World Rankings, their highest position in history.

The African champions cemented their status as the continent’s dominant force by winning a record seventh Women’s AfroBasket title in 2025, their fifth in a row, and securing qualification for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.

Belgium broke into the top five following their EuroBasket Women triumph, while Great Britain slipped to 22nd.

South Sudan made the biggest jump, rising 31 places to 55th. The USA remain the number one ranked side in the world.
