Newly-promoted Elche maintained their unbeaten start to La Liga with a 2-2 draw at Sevilla, though they were frustrated to concede an equaliser late on.

Isaac Romero put the hosts in front midway through the first half with a crisp finish from distance, but Elche responded after the break.

Andre Silva levelled on 54 minutes before Rafa Mir curled in a superb free-kick to complete the turnaround.

Sevilla pressed to avoid another home defeat and were rewarded in the 85th minute when Peque Fernandez rifled in from an Alexis Sanchez assist.

Romero thought he had restored the lead in stoppage time, only for his effort to be ruled out for a foul.

The result leaves Elche unbeaten after four league games for the first time this century, while Sevilla’s struggles at home continue with just one league win from their last 12 outings at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.
