The Electoral College Nigeria has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct the recall process of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central with accountability and strict compliance to constitutional guidelines. INEC had earlier informed Akpoti-Uduaghan of the initiation of the process, following a petition submitted by registered voters from her constituency in line with Section 69 of the 1999 Constitution and the Commission’s 2024 Recall Guidelines.

In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Kunle Lawal the Electoral College stressed the need for INEC to manage the process without bias or external influence. The group cautioned that any attempt to manipulate or politicize the process could compromise public trust in democratic institutions. It emphasized that the recall process must reflect the true will of the people and appealed to all stakeholders to allow due process to prevail.

The Electoral College reaffirmed its non-partisan stance—reiterating its determination to promoting civic education and democratic accountability. The organisation further called on INEC to ensure that the process is free, fair and transparent—in line with its regulatory framework.
