With effect from October 1, 2025, Emirates Airlines will ban passengers from carrying and using power banks onboard its entire fleet, the carrier has officially confirmed.
The new safety regulation follows a comprehensive internal review highlighting the risks associated with lithium battery devices in aviation.
Emirates noted that in-flight battery incidents linked to portable chargers have become more frequent across the sector.
In its announcement, the airline affirmed that although it is outlawing personal power banks, all aircraft will still offer in-seat charging facilities.
Nevertheless, Emirates strongly encouraged travelers to fully charge their devices before boarding, especially those embarking on long-haul journeys, so as to avoid inconvenience mid-flight.
The statement declared, “Using any kind of power bank is prohibited onboard Emirates’ flights, effective from tomorrow, October 1, 2025.”
This prohibition will apply to all Emirates routes and aircraft types, eliminating exceptions.
Emirates cited global concern over lithium-battery-related safety for pushing the policy across its network.
The new rule underscores a tighter aviation safety stance at a time when airlines worldwide are increasingly cautious about electronic device policies.
Passengers scheduled on Emirates flights after October 1 are urged to plan accordingly and rely on the provided in-seat charging systems onboard.
