Ex-Arsenal Midfielder Partey Granted Bail on Rape Charges

August 5, 2025

Former Arsenal player Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail after appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian is accused of raping two women and sexually assaulting a third between 2021 and 2022, during his time at the north London club.

The charges came four days after his Arsenal contract expired at the end of June.

Partey, dressed in a black zip-neck jumper and carrying a navy blazer, confirmed his name and acknowledged his bail conditions, which forbid contact with the alleged victims and require police notification of any address changes or overseas travel.

The case follows a Metropolitan Police investigation launched in February 2022.

Partey’s lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, said he “denies all the charges” and looks forward to clearing his name. His next court appearance is scheduled for 2 September at the Old Bailey.
