Cesc Fabregas has reached a personal agreement with Inter Milan to become their new head coach, according to Foot Mercato, but his release from Como remains the final obstacle.

The 38-year-old has accepted Inter’s salary offer and given his approval to the project, showing clear intent to take charge of last season’s Champions League finalists.

However, Como have not yet sanctioned his exit, and talks between the two clubs will be crucial in the coming days.

Fabregas has impressed in his short coaching career, leading Como to Serie A promotion and a solid tenth-place finish in their first season back.

His rapid rise has caught the attention of several major clubs, with Bayer Leverkusen and Roma both pursuing him earlier this year. Both were turned away by Como’s unwillingness to part ways with their coach.

With Simone Inzaghi stepping down after Inter’s heavy Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, the Nerazzurri have made Fabregas their top choice.

A swift resolution is expected as Inter aim to finalise their pre-season plans.
