Everton defender Ashley Young, has revealed that facing his 18-year-old son Tyler in Thursday’s FA Cup third-round clash against Peterborough United would be the pinnacle of his illustrious career.
The former England international, who has lifted trophies with Manchester United, spoke emotionally about the prospect of sharing the pitch with his son.
“If there was a possibility that we were able to play with each other or against each other, it tops everything I’ve done in my career,”
Ashley said. “It’s a goosebumps moment for me, and it’ll be a massive moment for Tyler as well.”
Tyler, who has made one appearance for Peterborough, added that he wouldn’t show his father any mercy.
“I wouldn’t even think about him being my dad,” he said. “He’s just another opponent on the pitch who I can try to beat.”
The Young family could be set for a historic encounter as father and son prepare for their potential meeting on the FA Cup stage.
