FCTA Enforces Strict Examination Standards as ERC Monitors SSCE Mock Exams
The Education Resource Centre (ERC) of the Federal Capital Territory Administration has intensified efforts to ensure strict compliance with examination standards and maintain zero tolerance for examination malpractice in secondary schools across Abuja.
ERC Director, Neemat Abdulrahim, disclosed this on Thursday while monitoring the Senior Secondary Certificate mock examination in Mathematics in selected schools in Abuja.
Abdulrahim explained that the mock examination serves as preparation for major external examinations conducted by the West African Examinations Council and the National Examinations Council.
She noted that the monitoring exercise forms part of the centre’s mandate to ensure that examinations are conducted in conducive environments and that all question papers meet approved academic standards.
According to her, the schools visited demonstrated orderly conduct during the examination, while participation from private schools has steadily increased, reflecting growing confidence in the credibility of the ERC mock examinations.
Abdulrahim also commended the ongoing renovation of school facilities in the FCT, stating that the efforts by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, have significantly boosted students’ morale.
Also speaking, the Director of the Department of Quality Assurance, Titilayo Alayande, reaffirmed the department’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of examinations.
She praised Abdulrahim and her team for sustaining a quality mock examination process that helps prepare students for both WAEC and NECO examinations.

Some school administrators also lauded the ongoing education reforms introduced by the FCT administration.
The Director of Royal Family Academy, Olubunmi Ayeni, described the mock examination as a highly impactful initiative that helps schools assess students’ readiness for external examinations.
