Brighton striker Evan Ferguson is set to complete a loan move to AS Roma, with a medical scheduled in Italy ahead of the switch.

The 20-year-old Republic of Ireland international is hoping to revive his form after a difficult spell marked by injury setbacks and limited opportunities at Brighton.

Ferguson spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham, but made just eight appearances, only one of them a start, under then-manager Graham Potter.

Roma have identified Ferguson as the ideal replacement for Tammy Abraham, who is currently on loan at Besiktas, playing under former Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Talks between Roma and Brighton have progressed smoothly, paving the way for the temporary move.

Images surfaced online showing Ferguson greeting Roma fans and signing autographs, signalling his imminent arrival at the Serie A club.

Once seen as one of the Premier League’s brightest young talents, Ferguson was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award after a standout 2022–23 campaign in which he scored nine goals and earned his senior debut for Ireland.

But with just one goal since November 2023, his chances of featuring regularly under new Brighton boss Fabien Hürzeler had become slim.
