Nigeria breathed new life into their FIFA U20 World Cup campaign with a dramatic 3-2 win over Saudi Arabia in Talca.

Nasiru Salihu opened the scoring early before turning provider for Amos Ochoche’s spectacular strike, but Saudi Arabia twice fought back through Amar Al Yuhaybi and substitute Talal Haji.

With the game heading for a draw, captain Daniel Bameyi kept his cool to bury a 94th-minute penalty and secure the Flying Eagles’ first points of the tournament.

South Africa also found their spark, thrashing New Caledonia 5-0 in Rancagua. Siviwe Nkwali’s header set the tone before Shakeel April converted a penalty.

Siviwe Magidigidi netted twice, while Lazola Maku added the fifth to complete a commanding display.

Nigeria now face group leaders Colombia, while South Africa prepare for a stern test against the United States.
