Manchester City stumbled but ultimately escaped with a 3–2 win over Leeds United at the Etihad Stadium, relying on Phil Foden’s brilliance at both the start and the finish to secure a much-needed Premier League victory.
City burst out of the blocks, scoring inside the opening minute through Foden before Joško Gvardiol doubled the lead midway through the first half. Leeds looked buried, yet a bold halftime switch reignited them.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin pulled one back seconds after the restart, and when Lukas Nmecha converted his own rebounded penalty, the visitors were suddenly level and dreaming of a famous point.
But just as Leeds prepared to hang on, Foden struck again in the first minute of stoppage time, drilling home from the edge of the box to break their resistance.
City remain in pursuit of leaders Arsenal, while Leeds stay in the relegation fight despite a spirited comeback that almost produced something special.
