Nottingham Forest’s push for Champions League football took another dent as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace, leaving them two points adrift of the top five with time running out.
Despite knowing a win was vital after rivals Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Chelsea all picked up victories, Forest struggled to find rhythm early on and needed Matz Sels to keep them in the contest.
Palace struck first just before the hour when Eberechi Eze converted from the spot after Mitchell was brought down.
Forest replied almost immediately through a fortunate deflection off Murillo, but couldn’t find a late winner.
Eze struck the bar and Eddie Nketiah thought he’d won it deep into stoppage time, only to be flagged offside.
Having sat in third for much of the season, Forest now find themselves outside the Champions League places at the worst possible time, while Palace edge closer to another bottom-half finish.
