Genk Slam Door on Arokodare’s January Exit Amid EPL Links

KRC Genk chairman Peter Croonen has ruled out the possibility of Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare leaving the club during the January transfer window, despite growing interest from English Premier League clubs and Turkish giants Trabzonspor.

Arokodare is enjoying a breakout season after a rocky start to his Genk career. The forward has notched 14 goals and six assists in 22 matches across all competitions, making him the Belgian club’s leading scorer and one of the most prolific Nigerians in Europe this season.

Reports have linked the 24-year-old with moves to Fulham and Trabzonspor, but Croonen made it clear the striker is staying put.

“The intention is absolutely to keep him. And that will happen,” Croonen told DAZN.

Known for their reliance on transfer income, Genk have previously sold key players like Paul Onuachu and Joseph Paintsil in January.

However, with Arokodare leading the charge, the club is adamant about holding onto their star man.

The Nigerian capped off 2024 in style, scoring twice in a thrilling 2-2 Boxing Day draw against Royal Antwerp, ending the year as the Belgian league’s top scorer.
