Getafe claimed their first LaLiga win at the Santiago Bernabeu since 2008 with a
shock 1-0 victory over city rivals Real Madrid, denting the hosts’ title hopes.
Despite missing key players and arriving on a run of 16 straight league defeats at the
ground, the visitors held firm early on, with David Soria denying Vinicius Junior and
Arda Guler.
They struck before the break when Martín Satriano volleyed home after Antonio
Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni failed to clear, marking Getafe’s first goal in five
meetings with Real.
Madrid pushed after the restart but lacked cutting edge, as Soria and a disciplined
defence preserved a famous win.
A late red card for Franco Mastantuono summed up a frustrating night for the hosts,
who now trail leaders Barcelona by four points.
Getafe move eight points clear of the relegation zone with 12 matches remaining.
