Ghana’s former president, John Dramani Maham has secured a decisive victory in Ghana’s presidential election, marking a significant political comeback. He made a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account saying “I have, this morning, received a congratulatory call from my brother Dr. Bawumia, following my emphatic victory in Saturday’s election. Thank you, Ghana,”

In a press conference, Bawumia admitted that he called Mahama to congratulate him, adding that Mahama’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) also won the parliamentary election.

In his concession speech delivered before the Electoral Commission announced the final results, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of maintaining national peace and unity.

Acknowledging the disappointment within his New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Bawumia urged supporters to remain optimistic, vowing that the party would regroup and return stronger. He also expressed gratitude to key figures and institutions for their support during his campaign and reassured the public of the NPP’s commitment to a smooth transition of power.
