West Ham United have announced Graham Potter as their new head coach, replacing Julen Lopetegui, who was dismissed after just seven months in charge.

Potter, 49, has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal and will make his debut in the dugout during West Ham’s FA Cup tie against Aston Villa on Friday.

The former Chelsea and Brighton boss takes over with the Hammers sitting 14th in the Premier League table.

In his first statement as manager, Potter expressed his enthusiasm for the role, highlighting West Ham’s passionate fanbase and recent success, including their 2023 Europa Conference League triumph.

“I’m excited to join a club with such a strong foundation and vision for the future. Together, we’ll work to bring continued success to West Ham United,” Potter said.

The club hopes Potter’s track record of developing teams and players will provide the stability needed to improve their league position and build for the long term.
