Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola is hopeful that midfield star Rodri could return to action before the end of the season, despite initial fears that he would miss the entire campaign.
Rodri suffered a ruptured ACL in September, and while Guardiola had previously ruled him out for the season, the Ballon d’Or contender has resumed individual training, raising optimism over his recovery.
“The fans aren’t the only ones excited,” Guardiola said after City’s 3-1 FA Cup win over Plymouth Argyle.
“He’s touching the ball again and feeling more confident. I couldn’t have expected this before, but maybe, before the end of the season, he could help us.”
However, Guardiola emphasized that City will not rush his comeback. “One step at a time,” he added.
“We don’t want to make a stupid decision by bringing him back too soon and risk a setback. But yeah, it looks good—still, he’s not close to returning just yet.”
