Ilkay Gundogan has left Manchester City to sign for Turkish champions Galatasaray on a free transfer, with the move subject to international clearance.
The 34-year-old midfielder made 358 appearances across two spells with City, scoring 65 goals and winning 14 trophies, including captaining the club to the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League treble in 2023.
Gundogan, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund in 2016 before a brief stint at Barcelona, returned to Manchester for the 2024/25 season.
He has now committed to Galatasaray until the end of the 2026/27 campaign and will earn €4.5m per season from 2025.
In a farewell message, Gundogan paid tribute to City, where he enjoyed the highlight of lifting the Champions League trophy in Istanbul.
“Manchester City will always hold a special place in my heart,” he said. “To win the treble and lift the Champions League for the first time was unforgettable.”
