Haaland at the Double as City Crush Wolves in Season Opener

Manchester City began their Premier League campaign in dominant fashion, sweeping aside Wolverhampton Wanderers 4–0 at Molineux to continue their remarkable head-to-head dominance with a tenth win in 11 league meetings.

The Cityzens made a slow start and were given an early scare when Marshall Munetsi headed home, only for the effort to be ruled offside.

That warning sparked City into life. Erling Haaland opened the scoring from close range after Rico Lewis’ low cross, before new signing Tijjani Reijnders marked his debut with a precise first-time strike to double the lead.

Wolves responded brightly after the interval, with Jorgen Strand Larsen forcing James Trafford into a smart save, but any hopes of a comeback were ended on the hour mark.

Haaland struck again, finishing a cutback from Reijnders to take his tally against Wolves to 10 goals in the league – more than he has scored against any other opponent.

Another debutant then added gloss to the victory, as Rayan Cherki capped the evening with a composed finish into the bottom corner.

For Wolves, the result continued a miserable trend in August, where they have now won just once in 21 Premier League fixtures played in the month.

For City, it was business as usual: clinical, ruthless, and already back at the top of the table.
