Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe will stay away from the touchline until he fully recovers from pneumonia, assistant coach Jason Tindall confirmed on Tuesday.
Howe, who was recently hospitalised, missed the Magpies’ 4-1 win over Manchester United and will also be absent for upcoming clashes against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.
Tindall revealed that communication with Howe has been limited, stressing the manager’s focus should be on rest and recovery.
“When he does return, it’ll be a gradual process,” Tindall said. “We want him back leading the team, but only when he’s fully fit.”
Newcastle, currently fourth in the Premier League, are fighting for a Champions League spot with five places up for grabs.
