Award-winning Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has candidly described herself as an “extremist” in relationships, revealing that she loves deeply but is equally unafraid to walk away when necessary.

Speaking during an appearance on The Morayo Show, the actress explained that her intense approach stems from her passionate personality, although she acknowledged the importance of finding balance.

“I must say, I’m not proud of that and I’m proud of it,” she said. “There must be a balance. I’m an extremist. I love so hard. I’m real… I’m not perfect. I can be troublesome. Yes, I can be. I’m tough.”

Akindele also credited fellow actor Uzee Usman for helping her reflect on her behavior and embrace growth. She recalled his advice on leadership and acceptance, noting that not every situation requires confrontation or closure.

“He told me you don’t have to close every door. Sometimes, you just leave people where they are,” she shared, adding that his words prompted her to pause and reassess her reactions.

The actress further reflected on lessons from her late mother, who often reminded her to be patient with others.

“Everybody’s not as smart as you or as fast as you. Calm down,” she recalled, emphasizing how those words continue to shape her perspective.

While acknowledging her flaws, Akindele stressed that maintaining her mental well-being remains a top priority. According to her, human relationships are important, but not at the expense of her peace of mind.

“Human relationships for me are very important and I’m learning every day. But no matter what happens, my mental health is very important,” she said.

Her remarks come shortly after a recent public moment involving fellow actress Toyin Abraham, where Akindele appeared to ignore a kneeling greeting at a film premiere—an incident that sparked conversations online about her interpersonal style.
