Iga Swiatek powered into the Wimbledon fourth round with a ruthless 6-2, 6-3 win over Danielle Collins on Saturday, while defending champion Barbora Krejcikova saw her title defence crumble in a shock defeat to Emma Navarro.

Swiatek, eager to silence doubts over her grass-court credentials, broke Collins early and never looked back.

Despite flashes of resistance from the American, who committed 25 unforced errors, the top seed closed out the match with a forehand winner to set up a last-16 clash against Denmark’s 23rd seed Clara Tauson.

On Court One, Krejcikova looked on course for a routine win after taking the first set and leading by a break in the second.

But the Czech’s level collapsed as Navarro surged back, taking the match 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

A tearful Krejcikova, clearly struggling physically, fought to stay in the contest but couldn’t prevent the American 10th seed from sealing victory and guaranteeing a new women’s champion this year.

Navarro, who reached the quarter-finals last year, will now face 18-year-old Mirra Andreeva in the fourth round.
