Celtic have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho, more than 24 hours after the Scottish transfer window closed.
The 28-year-old, released by Sevilla on Monday, finalised talks late but had to wait until 11:06pm on Tuesday night for the move to be confirmed.
His arrival ends Celtic’s search for a new forward after failed pursuits of Kasper Dolberg and David Datro Fofana left Brendan Rodgers short of options in attack.
Iheanacho reunites with Rodgers, who managed him at Leicester during his best Premier League scoring season in 2020/21.
The Hoops also signed Hammarby winger Sebastian Tounekti on Deadline Day, while Adam Idah departed for Swansea in a £7m deal.
Rodgers welcomed the Nigerian’s arrival, praising his quality and experience. “I know Kelechi so well and what he can bring to the team,” said the Celtic boss. “He is right in his peak years and I am sure he will make a big contribution.”
