Former Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate Jonathan Ikoné returned to punish his old club on
Monday night, scoring the decisive goal as Paris FC stunned the holders 1-0 to reach the last 16
of the French Cup.
Introduced from the bench, Ikoné struck in the final 20 minutes at the Parc des Princes, handing
PSG their first home defeat in the competition since 2022 and their earliest exit at this stage since
2014.
“We’re really happy, we managed to defend well,” Ikoné told France Télévisions. “I’m really
happy with my goal, it’s just joy, and I hope it’s not my last.”
PSG dominated long spells of the contest, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia lively in the first half,
while Gonçalo Ramos was denied by an excellent save from Obed Nkambadio after the break.
Paris FC, however, remained organised and dangerous on the counter.
The breakthrough came when Paris FC broke forward with 15 minutes remaining, Ikoné poking
home from close range before refusing to celebrate against his former club.
Despite late pressure, including a near-miss header from Désiré Doué and another Nkambadio
save from Vitinha, PSG could not find a way through as Paris FC held firm to seal a famous
derby victory.
