Nollywood actress and reality TV star Annie Idibia has addressed ongoing speculation about her marital status, saying she does not consider herself a single mother but rather “a single woman raising two kids.”

The actress made the clarification in a post shared on her Instagram page on Monday, where she reposted a reflective message originally written by Instagram user #katyeneff, a self-described “Feminine Magnetism & Aliveness Activator.”

“I’m not a single Mom. I’m a single woman raising two kids,” the post read.

The message emphasised that motherhood does not require marriage, stressing that children need an emotionally healthy and fulfilled parent.

“My children don’t need me married. They need me alive. They need me true. They need me free,” the post stated, adding that her journey is not about “doing it alone,” but about building a legacy and breaking societal expectations placed on women.

“I’m not a single mom. I’m a woman rising… and two beautiful souls rise with me,” it continued.

The post also highlighted the importance of personal peace and emotional stability in parenting.

“My peace brings them peace. My joy brings them joy. My radiance creates their safety. This is what leading a family actually looks like,” it read.

Annie Idibia shares two daughters with Nigerian music icon 2Baba.

Their marriage ended in January 2025 after the singer publicly announced their separation. Reports later indicated that the actress sought rehabilitation while 2Baba moved on with his new fiancée, Natasha Osawaru.

Although the divorce has not been formally finalised, both parties have since moved forward with separate lives.

Since the separation, Annie has embraced what she describes as a new chapter focused on healing, self-care and motherhood. She recently embarked on a wellness retreat that took her to Doha, Singapore and Cape Town, frequently sharing messages about personal growth and self-worth.

In September, she posted another reflective message about her hopes for her daughter’s future.

“I hope my daughter doesn’t accept things I’ve accepted, that she knows her worth from the start and that no matter what, she always has me in her corner,” she wrote.

The actress also subtly acknowledged the end of her marriage during the The Headies 2025 held in Lagos in May 2025, when she introduced herself as “Annie Idi…” before correcting it to “Annie Macaulay.”

Her latest post further reinforces a narrative of redefining identity beyond marital status, presenting motherhood as a part of her life rather than the entirety of who she is.
