Inter Respond to UCL Exit with Commanding Win Over Genoa.
Inter Milan bounced back from their UEFA Champions League disappointment with a
2-0 Serie A victory over Genoa, extending their unbeaten league run against Il
Grifone to 14 matches.
Federico Dimarco broke the deadlock on the half-hour, volleying Henrikh
Mkhitaryan’s looping pass into the far corner from a tight angle after Inter had been
repeatedly denied by goalkeeper Justin Bijlow.
Genoa threatened sporadically, but the hosts remained composed.
The game was sealed when Hakan Calhanoglu calmly converted from the penalty
spot after Alex Amorim handled in the box.
The win was Inter’s eighth straight in Serie A, moving them 13 points clear of
second-placed AC Milan.
It also handed Genoa their first defeat in three matches, leaving them just three
points above the relegation zone.
