Ipswich Town have reached an agreement to sign Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene for £20 million, with the 22-year-old scheduled for a medical at Portman Road.
Philogene’s move comes just six months after returning to Villa Park. The England Under-21 international had attracted interest from clubs in La Liga, but Ipswich’s persistence and manager Kieran McKenna’s influence were key in sealing the deal.
The Tractor Boys had nearly signed Philogene last summer, agreeing to an £18 million fee with Hull City before Villa activated their buy-back clause.
Hull ultimately received £13.5 million due to a 30% sell-on clause included in their initial sale of the player in 2023.
During his short stint back at Villa, Philogene made only four starts, including a Champions League appearance against Bayern Munich, and 11 substitute outings. Ipswich, currently 18th in the Premier League, have reignited their pursuit and convinced the winger to join as they strengthen their squad in a bid for top-flight survival.
Philogene will join recent loan signing Ben Godfrey from Atalanta as Ipswich continues to bolster their lineup in the January transfer window.
