Nollywood actress and filmmaker Iyabo Ojo has scored a major box office triumph as her latest film, Return of Arinzo, emerged as the highest-grossing movie of the Easter weekend in Nigeria, raking in an impressive ₦104.8 million during its opening.
The film not only dominated the holiday box office but also set new benchmarks, achieving the highest Easter weekend performance and the biggest opening for a Nollywood sequel.
Ojo shared the milestone on her X (formerly Twitter) page on Monday, expressing gratitude to fans for their overwhelming support. “Thank you, everyone, for the love you showed us. TROA opens with ₦104.8m, breaking multiple records in just one weekend. Highest-grossing Easter weekend performance, biggest opening for a Nollywood sequel. This was only possible because of you,” she wrote.
Distributor FilmOne Entertainment credited the film’s success to its strong connection with audiences and widespread support across West Africa.
The remarkable debut underscores Nollywood’s growing box office strength and highlights Return of Arinzo as one of the industry’s standout releases of the year.
