Aaron Gordon’s clutch three-pointer with four seconds left capped a stunning comeback as the Denver Nuggets edged top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder 121-119 in a thrilling Western Conference semi-final opener.
Nikola Jokic delivered a dominant 42-point performance, scoring 18 in the final quarter to haul Denver back from a 14-point deficit.
The Serbian superstar also added 22 rebounds and six assists in a statement win on the road.
Oklahoma City looked in control for most of the second half, but two missed free throws by Chet Holmgren with 10 seconds remaining opened the door for Denver’s final charge, ending in Gordon’s 25-foot dagger from deep.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 33 points, but it wasn’t enough as the defending champions stole home-court advantage ahead of Wednesday’s Game 2.
