Juventus and Borussia Dortmund delivered one of the great Champions League nights in Turin, sharing the points in a breathtaking 4-4 draw at the Allianz Stadium where all eight goals came in a frenzied second half.

The opening 45 minutes provided little clue of the chaos to follow.

Khéphren Thuram’s long-range strike was tipped away by Gregor Kobel, while Juventus’ new attacking duo of Lois Openda and Jonathan David both threatened without reward.

Everything changed after the restart. Maximilian Beier rattled the post before Karim Adeyemi drilled Dortmund ahead with a precise finish from Serhou Guirassy’s lay-off.

That breakthrough sparked an extraordinary exchange of goals. Kenan Yildiz levelled with a stunning curler, only for Felix Nmecha to restore Dortmund’s lead.

Dušan Vlahović then made it 2-2, racing onto Yildiz’s clever pass to score.

Dortmund appeared to have landed the decisive blow when Ramy Bensebaini converted from the spot following Lloyd Kelly’s handball.

But the Allianz Stadium was rocked once more in stoppage time. Vlahović turned in Pierre Kalulu’s cross to equalise before Kelly redeemed himself in the 96th minute, nodding Vlahović’s delivery past Kobel to seal a dramatic 4-4 draw.

Both teams stretched their unbeaten starts to the season, yet the mood in each camp could not have been more different.

Juventus hailed their resilience, while Dortmund boss Niko Kovač was left wondering how his side contrived to surrender the lead on three separate occasions.
