Juventus Hit Five in Emphatic Cremonese Rout to Strengthen Top-Four Push

Juventus were in ruthless mood as they swept aside Cremonese 5-0 in Serie A, extending their
perfect head-to-head record against Le Tigri this century and tightening their grip on a top-four
place.
The hosts started brightly and went close early on when Jonathan David punished a loose pass
but struck the post.
Juventus did not have to wait long for the breakthrough, as Fabio Miretti’s effort deflected off
Gleison Bremer to wrongfoot Emil Audero in the 12th minute.
Momentum quickly swung fully in Juve’s favour and the lead was doubled three minutes later,
with Khephren Thuram driving forward before teeing up Jonathan David, who finished calmly to
put Old Lady in control.
Cremonese’s night unravelled further when a penalty initially awarded for a foul on Dennis
Johnsen was overturned after a review, a decision that saw coach Davide Nicola sent off.
Matters worsened moments later as Juventus were awarded a spot-kick of their own for handball,
with Kenan Yildiz reacting quickest after his penalty rebounded off the post to make it 3-0.
Any hope of a response vanished early in the second half when Weston McKennie’s effort
ricocheted in off Filippo Terracciano for an own goal, before the American midfielder capped
the scoring with a header on the hour mark.
Juventus eased through the closing stages to seal a sixth win from their last seven matches in all
competitions.
The result lifts them into fourth place, four points behind leaders Inter Milan with a game in
hand, while Cremonese remain 13th after a fourth defeat in six league games.
