Juventus defender Nicolo Savona has been ruled out of the remainder of the Club World Cup after suffering a high-grade capsular ligament injury in his left ankle during Thursday’s 5-2 defeat to Manchester City.
The 22-year-old, who had started all three group games, limped off just past the hour mark and was replaced by Federico Gatti.
Juventus confirmed on Friday that Savona faces over a month on the sidelines and will be re-evaluated after his rehabilitation.
Juve finished second in Group G and meet Real Madrid in the last 16 on Tuesday in Miami, with Gatti likely to step into Igor Tudor’s back three once again.
