Harry Kane struck his first goal against boyhood club Tottenham as Bayern Munich swept to a dominant 4-0 victory in Thursday’s pre-season friendly.
The England captain, Spurs’ all-time leading scorer with 280 goals in 435 games, opened the scoring after 12 minutes with a composed close-range finish.
Just two minutes later, Kane had the chance to double Bayern’s advantage from the spot after Joao Palhinha, on loan at Spurs from Bayern, conceded a penalty.
However, the striker slipped on his run-up and fired over, missing a penalty for the first time since the 2022 World Cup quarter-final defeat to France.
Kingsley Coman extended Bayern’s lead on 61 minutes with a superb curling strike from the edge of the box before teenagers Lennart Karl and Jonah Kusi-Asare struck late to seal a comprehensive win.
The Europa League winners now turn their attention to next Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup showdown with European champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Spurs, meanwhile, continue their mixed pre-season under new boss Thomas Frank, which has included wins over Arsenal and Reading alongside draws with Newcastle, Luton and Wycombe.
