Bayern Munich showed grit and determination as they came from behind to defeat Stuttgart 3-1 on Friday, with manager Vincent Kompany praising his team’s response in what he described as “a real German top match.”
Stuttgart started strongly and took the lead through Angelo Stiller, but Michael Orlisz struck before halftime to bring Bayern level. T
he visitors then took control in the second half, with Leon Goretzka putting them ahead before Kingsley Coman capitalized on a defensive error to seal the victory.
“It’s never easy away at Stuttgart,” Kompany admitted. “I’ve never won here as a player, so I enjoyed this one even more. They were the better team early on, but we found our rhythm and took our chances when it mattered.”
The win keeps Bayern at the top of the Bundesliga table, 11 points clear of Bayer Leverkusen, despite having played an extra game.
With three games in six days, Kompany acknowledged the physical toll on his players but remained firm in his expectations.
“At this level, there are no excuses. You just have to stay calm and prepare for the next game. That’s the mentality we need to keep.”
