With the local government area (LGA) elections in Lagos State ongoing today, news from various polling units continues to show a largely peaceful and decent exercise despite some instances of poor turnout of voters and delayed arrival of electoral materials in some areas.
In Badore, Ajah, which is one of the highly active polling units in Eti-Osa LGA, officials have been seen on duty, as the photo above attests. Electoral officials sit and appear prepared for the exercise, with election materials visibly before them. But the action at this particular polling station appears lean, the same across the rest of the state where the turnout appears half-hearted.
Security presence remains relatively light but serene, with no serious dislocations thus far. INEC staff and observers continue to monitor events closely.
While LASIEC once assured the people of readiness and openness, the real test comes in citizen turn-out and the integrity of the collation process.
People are urged to step out, vote, and help make governance at the grassroots level. Updates to come as the situation unfolds.
