Lakers amid fire

The Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers are set to return to action at home on Monday, despite ongoing wildfires in California that have claimed at least 16 lives and displaced thousands.

The NBA previously postponed both teams’ home games last week to avoid straining resources needed for firefighting efforts.

Now, the Lakers will host the San Antonio Spurs, while the Clippers face the Miami Heat at Crypto.com Arena.

The Lakers announced a donation drive at their games, encouraging fans to contribute essentials for fire victims.

Clippers coach Tyronn Lue expressed hope that the games could provide some comfort during difficult times, saying, “Hopefully, we can bring some joy and smiles in these tough moments.”

Authorities warn of worsening conditions due to strong winds expected on Tuesday, raising concerns about extreme fire behavior.

Both teams continue to support affected players and staff while maintaining training schedules.
