Former Jigawa State Governor and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has blamed the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Nigeria’s worsening economic situation, accusing the ruling party of deepening poverty and hardship across the country.

Speaking at an expanded PDP caucus meeting in Dutse, Lamido said the years of APC leadership under former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Tinubu had betrayed the hopes of Nigerians.

“Since Buhari and now Tinubu, Nigerians are suffering. Poverty is everywhere, youths are jobless, and the economy is collapsing. They say they are fighting for Nigeria, but in reality, they only fight for themselves and their pockets,” Lamido told party members.

Reflecting on his four decades in politics, Lamido recalled his political roots in the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) of 1979, which, according to him, was founded on integrity, sacrifice, and service to the people.

He urged PDP members to remain committed to justice and fairness while shunning selfishness and divisive politics. Lamido also stressed the need for the party to project itself as a credible alternative for Nigerians increasingly disillusioned with APC leadership.
