Oussama Lamlioui produced a stunning long-range strike in the 80th minute to hand Morocco a 3-2 win over Madagascar in the African Nations Championship final at Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi.
Madagascar, playing in their first continental final, made a dream start when Felicite “Fely” Manohantsoa fired them ahead after just nine minutes.
Morocco responded through Youssef Mehri’s header before Lamlioui edged them in front just before the interval.
The underdogs struck back on 68 minutes through Toky Rakotondraibe, but Lamlioui stole the headlines with an audacious effort from 50 yards that sailed over Michel “Toldo” Ramandimbisoa to seal victory.
The goal crowned Morocco champions of the 2024 edition, giving them a record third CHAN title and denying Madagascar a fairy-tale ending in their debut tournament final.
