LAPORTA RE-ELECTED BARCELONA PRESIDENT UNTIL 2031.
Joan Laporta has been re-elected as Barcelona president after defeating rival Victor
Font in Sunday’s club elections.
The 63-year-old secured 68.47 per cent of the vote, comfortably ahead of Font’s
29.52 per cent, with turnout reaching 48,480 ballots from around 42 per cent of
eligible members.
Laporta, who also won the 2021 election, will officially reclaim the presidency in July
after stepping aside temporarily as part of the electoral process.
“We’re sad, we were really hopeful, and it’s a pity – we congratulate Laporta,” Font
said after conceding defeat.
Laporta previously led Barcelona between 2003 and 2010 during one of the club’s
most successful eras and has overseen recent LaLiga titles in 2023 and 2025, while
guiding the club through a severe financial crisis.
