The Lagos State Government has announced an eight-month road rehabilitation project on the Lekki-Ajah corridor, set to run from November 15, 2025, to July 15, 2026.
Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the state Commissioner for Transportation, shared this information in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Lagos. He noted that preliminary works are already underway, and the project will be executed in two phases to minimize traffic disruptions.
In Phase 1, work will take place between the Lekki first toll gate and the Lekki second toll gate, divided into seven sections. During construction, one of the two lanes will be closed, allowing motorists to use the remaining lane. Once the closed lane is completed, work will shift to the other lane, ensuring that motorists traveling to Lekki/Ajah can still pass through.
Phase 2 will cover the stretch from the Lekki second toll gate to the Ajah under-bridge, completed in four sections. Similar to Phase 1, work will progress from one lane to the next, allowing continuous traffic flow for motorists heading towards Ajah.
The commissioner urged drivers to exercise patience and adhere to traffic directions, as some road sections will be partially closed during repairs. He emphasized that these improvements are part of the state government’s commitment to enhancing road quality and easing traffic congestion.
