LASU Celebrates Alumnus Tunji Disu on Appointment as Acting Inspector General of Police

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Lagos State University, Mr Babatunde Ogala, alongside the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, have congratulated distinguished alumnus, Tunji Disu, on his appointment as the Acting Inspector General of Police of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Disu’s appointment was announced by the Presidency on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

In a statement issued by the university management on behalf of the Governing Council, staff, students, and alumni, the institution described the appointment as well-deserved and meritorious, noting that it reflects Disu’s integrity, professional competence, and decades of disciplined and patriotic service to the nation.

Disu holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education, as well as Master’s degrees in Public Administration and in Criminology, Security, and Legal Psychology from LASU.

Ogala and Olatunji-Bello affirmed that Disu embodies the core values of the university, describing him as resilient, intellectually grounded, and committed to transformational leadership.

“His elevation to the highest office in the Nigeria Police Force reinforces the University’s standing as a breeding ground for leaders who shape institutions and drive national progress,” the statement read.

The university leadership expressed confidence that the Acting Inspector General would leverage his intellectual depth, operational experience, and strategic insight to strengthen reforms, deepen public trust, and enhance service delivery within the Nigeria Police Force.

“As he assumes leadership at a pivotal moment for national security, the university community celebrates this milestone achievement and wishes him wisdom, courage, and success in office,” the statement added.
