Late City Blitz Ends Anfield Drought and Keeps Title Hope Alive.

Manchester City finally tasted league victory at Anfield again after a dramatic late
turnaround against Liverpool, a result Pep Guardiola admitted felt long overdue.
Trailing late on, City flipped the game on its head through Bernardo Silva before Erling
Haaland struck soon after to seal a memorable win.
Rayan Cherki briefly thought he had added a spectacular third from distance, but VAR
intervened to rule the goal out.
Guardiola later joked that City’s previous Anfield win during the Covid period “didn’t
really count,” and admitted the challenge of the venue never changes.
He described Anfield as “tight, intense and full of history,” adding that it is always one of
the hardest grounds to leave with three points.
The City boss also acknowledged the wider significance of the result, saying cutting the
gap to Arsenal to six points was “much better than nine,” even if the task ahead remains
difficult.
Guardiola stressed that City’s focus is now on staying close and applying pressure until
the end of the season.
The victory, only City’s third league win at Anfield since 1981, keeps their title challenge
alive, if only just.
