Rafael Leao struck deep into stoppage time to extend AC Milan’s unbeaten Serie A run to 17 matches, as the Rossoneri salvaged a dramatic 1-1 draw against Genoa at the San Siro.

Milan hit the woodwork early through Matteo Gabbia, but it was Genoa who struck first when on-loan striker Lorenzo Colombo punished his parent club with a composed finish before the break.

The hosts squandered a golden chance to respond moments later as Youssouf Fofana slipped with the goal at his mercy.

The pressure intensified after the restart, yet Milan saw an equaliser ruled out by VAR for handball and were repeatedly denied by an inspired Nicola Leali in the Genoa goal.

As time ticked away, Leao finally broke through, nodding home from a corner to rescue a point.

However, the drama was not over. Genoa were handed a penalty in the 99th minute following a VAR review, but Nicolae Stanciu blazed his effort over the bar, allowing Milan to escape with a draw and preserve their long unbeaten streak.
