Lens booked a place in the Coupe de France semi-finals after defeating Lyon 5-4 on
penalties following a dramatic 2-2 draw at the end of regulation time.
Florian Thauvin opened the scoring for Lens after Remy Descamps parried Saud
Abdulhamid’s strike into his path, before Abdallah Sima doubled the lead in the first half
stoppage time.
Lyon responded after the break as Roman Yaremchuk headed in his first goal for the
club before setting up substitute Remi Himbert to equalise in stoppage time.
The contest went to penalties, where goalkeeper Robin Risser made a key save,
allowing Thauvin to convert the decisive spot-kick and send Lens into the semi-
finals, where they will face Toulouse.
