Liverpool secured a vital 1-0 win over Everton in the Merseyside derby, moving closer to a record-equalling 20th league title.
The Reds struggled to break down a stubborn Everton defense but found the breakthrough in the 56th minute through Diogo Jota.
The Portuguese forward latched onto Luis Diaz’s clever backheel, weaved past challenges, and slotted home. Despite replays showing Diaz in an offside position earlier in the build-up, the goal stood.
Everton had their chances, with Beto causing problems for the Liverpool defense. The striker saw a goal ruled out for offside and later struck the post after beating Virgil van Dijk.
The Toffees were also fortunate when James Tarkowski escaped a red card for a high challenge on Alexis Mac Allister.
Liverpool ramped up the pressure in the second half, with Ryan Gravenberch forcing a save from Jordan Pickford before Jota’s moment of brilliance sealed the win.
The victory puts Arne Slot’s men just 13 points away from securing the Premier League title.
