Liverpool are lining up a dramatic end-of-window spending spree that could see nearly £200 million added to their already huge summer outlay.

The Reds, who have struggled defensively in the opening weeks, are prioritising a move for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, identified as the perfect long-term partner for Virgil van Dijk and eventual successor to Ibrahima Konaté.

Arne Slot views Guehi’s mix of athleticism, aggression and calm on the ball as crucial to Liverpool’s tactical reset.

Palace have stood firm on their valuation, demanding between £40m and £45m, but Liverpool are increasingly prepared to pay the premium to avoid losing him to European rivals in 2026.

At the same time, Liverpool are weighing a blockbuster bid of around £130m for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.

Newcastle’s stance remains closer to £150m, though Liverpool hope negotiations could yield a breakthrough before the deadline.

The two signings would add to an already record-breaking summer of recruitment at Anfield, which has brought in Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Giovanni Leoni, underlining one of the most ambitious rebuilds in the club’s modern history.
