Liverpool recorded a pre-tax loss of £57 million ($71.8 million) last season as rising wages and overhead costs outweighed increased revenue, the club announced on Friday.
While overall revenue grew by £20 million to £614 million, media earnings dropped by £38 million to £204 million due to the club’s absence from the Champions League. However, matchday revenue rose to £102 million, and commercial income increased to £308 million.
Chief financial officer Jenny Beacham emphasized the importance of financial sustainability, stating that growing income streams is crucial to balancing rising costs.
Despite the financial setback, Liverpool remains in strong form, leading the Premier League by 13 points and competing in multiple tournaments.
