Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike faces a two-week wage fine after being sent off in the Carabao Cup win over Southampton.
The French forward scored a late winner but was dismissed for a second yellow card after removing his shirt in celebration.
Manager Arne Slot labelled the act “stupid” and warned such behaviour will not be tolerated.
According to the Daily Mail, the Reds are preparing the fine as a disciplinary measure to deter similar incidents in the future.
Ekitike had already picked up a needless first booking, and Slot stressed the importance of players controlling their emotions, even in high-pressure moments.
